Stubbornness has always been his trait. He avoided the rather extravagant parties mainly for one reason; to avoid people. He was a lone wolf. One who never followed any pack. Sure, he may have lead a few but those were always forced onto him. Any relationship involved, be it comrade or just a civilian, was always defined and discreet. Anyone who stepped in too deep was cut off. Though only a select few truly bothered to question his stoic cold nature. The ties that created unnecessary bonds full of emotional links or dependencies were immediately thrown away until his blue eyes met with hers. In an instant she saw right through him.
No matter how much he refused to get involved, she pushed her way through. It was only because she was the daughter of General Caraway and a member of the Forest Owls that he accepted her request in the first place. The forceful yet soft hands that dragged him onto the middle of the dance floor. The perky smile she placed across her lips. Her warm embrace. She mesmerized him; an angel that had come to show him the light. She freely expressed her feelings to him, which he couldn’t help but ask ‘why’ or ‘how’. Something he never cared enough to ask anyone else. He couldn’t be bothered with it yet for this girl it was different. She helped him acknowledge his true fears; abandonment and vulnerability.
When she was taken, his mind only filled with her safety. The exact thing he was trying to avoid from the beginning had finally caught up to him. A panic stirred and he sensed the fear of losing yet another meaningful person in his life. As she was released from the containment, his arms freely swung to accept all of her. Taking in all his feelings, he deeply sighed in relief as he held her close. She was the one who opened his eyes to the beautiful things in life; love being one of them and he couldn’t thank her enough.
