The past without the system was hard to imagine. His long fingers caressed the soft lifeless cheek as he thought further. Would she have been the type to scold him to come home before dark; or perhaps read him a bedtime story as every other child had the joy of experiencing. He weakly smiled as he thought of the delicious pastries that would have been waiting for him in the kitchen. Conjuring these possibilities only brought further sorrow and irritation. He knew he had to shake it off.

He firmly held onto the top of her crown and with the clean flick of his wrist, the crimson blood slowly emerged as he removed her from the throne. He stared at the peaceful look on her face as it cradled into his hand. If only she were truly sleeping. He placed a soft kiss on her cheek with a word of good bye before placing the façade mask back on; starting with his infamous grin as he greeted his other flesh and blood.

Title: Betrayal
Fandom: Chrno Crusade
Character: Can you guess who?
Word Count: 177

The trail of blood painted the floor behind as he soon forced his way past the tightly shut doors. Beyond it was a scene of horror; a sea of flames that engulfed everything in its path. He stared at the heavily armed men, who stood in accord with the horizon. With much dismay, the young man fell to his knees as he picked up the small torso of the same blood and roared with rage as it disintegrated within his shaken hands. The cruelty of it all ignited the hatred inside.

His long claws drawn out, skillfully, he thrashed through his superior’s body, one after another. No sign of mercy was displayed, quickly escalating the body count with each circular motion of his arms. He fed off the adrenaline that fueled his strength and finally ceased as the last one fell with disbelief. The young man caught his breath and his cold eyes glared down at his torn enemy. His strong, prideful back faced his comrades as a single drop of tear betrayed him in the end.

Title: Precious Moment
Fandom: Naruto
Character: Sakumo and Kakashi
Word Count: 208
Note: Nathena gave me this idea. I hope it worked all right.

The man kept quiet and gently smiled as he listened to the young man’s story from beginning to end. It seemed so much had happened in his absence. How quickly he’d grown since that day. He only wished he could have been there every step of the way. Throughout the conversation, he couldn’t help but notice the emphasis he placed on his students’ performances more than of himself; their exceptional team work; the amount of praise they received from the people of their village and even from the Hokages, themselves. Silly boy, there was no need to reassure the old man how times had changed along with its people. He had faith from the very beginning that the new generation would be able to make a difference; something his own failed to accomplish.

The last bit of fire violently flickered with its struggle to stay lit; it was time. The man placed a firm hand onto the young man’s shoulder and gave it a good pat. He spoke in a similar tongue with suave words passing his lips; the young man’s eyes widened in revelation. A whirlwind of leaves surrounded the “boy” as the flame soon disappeared along with a sincere smile, leaving a drop of tear behind.

That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.
